But I used to close my eyes too and dream of being far away, like Jordan Catalano.

It was 1994 when my life changed, when 13 years old. That year lots of things happened to me.
I started reading Nietzche.

Kurt Cobain was found dead and I cried when I saw on the news. I run to the bathroom and locked the door and cry, cry, cry...

I was in love with The Smashing Pumpkins, 'cause in every little song, I felt they were talking about myself, from Spaceboy to Disarm.

I watched The Crow film and fell in love with that story...

And then, in 1995, I watched on Tv this show, 'My so-called life', about teenagers and their problems and everything that was happening to me and all the teens who watched the show too on that time. 'Cause, for being real, we've all got a little of Angela Chase inside us. And sometimes we all wanted to be a little bit wild like Rayanne and fell in love with Jordan Catalano.

But in the end, we all did the same question to ourselves: who am I? I was a little goth teen who used to listen to so much music, read tons of books and closed her eyes, dreaming of being really far away.

It was the 90s and I was running to find myself, looking in every mirror, and in every corner inside me. I fell in love with lots of guys, but I was really shy, and a goth teen... and I used to scared people when I talked to them, as I seem 'so smart for me' (they used to say). That's why I had few friends from my age at that time, 'cause they really didn't understand me at all; even my closest friends didn't do that.

I was running, looking for my future, looking for my life. I'm still looking for it. I still run. And I feel free about that, and about life; and I feel I can do whatever I want if I believe in me.

So Angela did. So YOU all can do.
Feel free.
Run.

Interview: Rocio Ponce and the Skins Spain Project.

I wrote today my first interview for Skins, El blog, and I would love to share it with you... enjoy it!

Rocio Ponce has a gift and is the gift of showing us the world through his eyes curious, always expectant to their environment. She began to dream about photography since her very youth, but her real interest was created with about 18 years when she felt she wanted to live by this art. So she left her high school education and began the High-Grade Art Photography at Barcelona.

Skins, drawing the reality: Cassie and the eating disorders.

As you all may know, I write in the Spanish blog of the Skins' series, and yesterday I wrote a very interesting article about the eating disorders. As a psychologist and as a human. What do you think about it? Let me know, please!

Without doubt, eating disorders are every day more common in our society, not only the best known, such as anorexia or bulimia but some new concepts with slowly advancing that coexist with us, often without realizing it: orthorexia, bigorexia, binge eating disorders and obesity ...

In the first generation of Skins, we find a character who has a type of eating disorder, anorexia. As you all know, I'm talking about Cassie, the nymph in a sea of doubts ... but is it really seriously addressed this character and veracity ...?

The answer, happily, is yes.

The first thing that caught my attention when I began to see Skins, was the character of Cassie. As a psychologist interested in the topic of eating disorders, I decided to observe the treatment of the character closely. For years I have reported widely on these topics, and I had the opportunity to know (first hand) evidence of boys and girls with this type of disorders, among other things. That is why, every time I see some mention on television or film, or in a (dreaded) number of teenagers, I tremble, because the writers of the series tend to be influenced by too many myths that give more to morbid information than truth.

But in the case of Skins did not, and the living expression of this is Cassie, a girl terrorized by the world, penned under the belief that if you gain weight, something bad can happen. Undoubtedly, Cassie's fears are many, and around her happens a number of problems that are likely to be those who have developed the disease, which in many other series have forgotten; such series typically focus only on the Purging fact of the disease, as well as highlight the lack of food intake ... but, is that anorexia only, not eating?

Undoubtedly the most striking factor in anorexia is the loss of weight and lack of food intake (or binge eating, followed by purging either by vomiting or laxatives); but are not the only factors that occur in a case of anorexia or any eating disorder. The fear of gaining weight or perceptual disturbance to one's body come hand in hand with feelings of guilt, worthlessness or simply not being wanted, in short: lack of control over your life. That is why people with eating disorders begin to "control" their weight as something that is easy to control (dieting, not eating certain things, etc). But gradually, this control becomes obsessive, sometimes even trying to expand to other areas of everyday life where, inevitably, will not be possible to carry it out, going so what I call "the first failure".

Sunk, rejected, disappointed with herself, the person with an eating disorder will seek to control more momentum that already "controlled", ie your body weight. More restrictions, more seriously and focus on achieving the goals, sometimes even extending them (wanted to reach a 38 ... but why not a size 36?). And with each failure, more tough on yourself until the situation becomes untenable. And then you break, and you begin to dream to join the pieces.

It is at this point where we meet Cassie, a being broken dreamer, hopeless hopes and a heavy heart. Someone very big but it is believed very small and is afraid to get off the ground. Someone who knows the tricks (unforgettable the scene of Cassie and Sid in the cafeteria, where she explains what to do to feed more people and that they believe comes) but no longer knows if he wants to apply, but does not know how to stop (the message of "EAT", present during the same episode). A desperately Cassie seeking emotional and physical stability ... and that by not getting it, punishing her body with the false belief that you can get at least that physical peace.

Fortunately for Cassie (and for all who want and, in some ways, we feel a bit like her), manages to win those battles to a greater or lesser degree, disturbing the ghosts of his past trying to hang on to their knees. If she can, why not be able to others? It is a message written between the lines of Skins, carefully deciphered by those who know what Cassie has passed; transcribed words in this article for those who perhaps had not noticed it.

The creators of Skins made Cassie a real person, evoking hope, change and encounter with oneself, beyond her candour and charm, Cassie is a hymn to life ... a song that sounds in a whisper saying "Wow, lovely".

Thanks for reading and your opinion!!

Come with us now on a journey through time and space...

Me at Sagrada Familia the day of my birthday!

Saturday night, and I'm at home! I don't know why, but a state of misanthropy has invaded me this afternoon and I decided to stay home, doing nothing important and seeing some series.

Today I spent the day with Rocío, Esther, Laia and two friends of mine, Esther, a lovely girl I met a long time ago at England (I was her team leader that summer) and Alejandro, one of my friends from Algeciras that is doing a master here at Barcelona (and who gave me today a comic book for my birthday, thank you! I love Alan Moore!). We ate at a Japanese restaurant and the had a coffee.  After that, we went shopping; I was going to buy a new pair of boots (I really need them) but the sho was closed... anyway, I bought a lovely ribbon for my head.

Dress - vintage (I must fix it!)
Tights - Clazedonia
Shoes - Wonders second hand
Pizzicato 5 bag - Offbrand
Black ribbon necklace - Claire's

Since a few weeks ago, I'm making up myself (or at least, trying to) as Twiggy... little by little I'm getting better, but I would thank you some advice. I use always my Shiseido's feather eyeliner! Normally I don't draw all the lashes, but I think it's cute...

How was your Saturday? :)

Sometimes, guys tell me that men's fashion is boring... but I must disagree with that. Any kind of fashion could be boring, it depends on YOU for doing it happy, funny and great.

I think that the best example of a funny male fashioner is Noel Fielding, from The Mighty Boosh or The IT Crowd.

Noel is a funny person, and he displays it in his clothing. Skinny pants, cowboy hats, cool t-shirts, colourful coats, handbags and gorgeous shoes can be always seen in his coordinates (with one of his great smiles, of course).

I LOVE that silver shoes... I guess is one of his favourites, because I've got lots of pictures with those shoes! And the polka dots pants too... they're gorgeous!

I really think he's got a great style, very brave and countercurrent... who said that men's clothes are boring? They must learn from Noel!

The Mighty Boosh

I hope you would have a lovely Sunday!!!

The Man's Machine

Hi everybody! How was your Friday? Mine was quiet and with good company, my dearest Laia and Rocío! Laia and I went to Rocio's house this evening just for a talk about our imminent trip to Berlin on January... guess what? We've got the tickets!! So, from January the 15th until the 20th, you could find us at Berlin!!

And after this short notice, I would like to thank you! Yes, you all! Finally, I've got 101 followers, I cannot believe it! When I started blogging I never imagined I would have more than 30 followers... but here I am, thank you all, who read me, comment me and encourage me about continuing this project. Thank you so much, it means the world to me!

Today I dyed my hair, yes! It's red, of course, but the colour is so brilliant now!

I love how red looks on me!

And my lovely Cris came this evening to my home with this lovely cakes... they were so delicious! I made some coffee and we had a little chat; since she's studying for her exams I haven't seen her in weeks! But of course, her exams are more important than me!

I think I haven't told you before, but I'm a translator and writer in a small blog about the series "Skins". Some time ago I translated an interview we did with questions from fans at Ollie Barbieri; the guy who plays JJ in the third season of the series... and I would like to share it with you here. I think that you can read the interview in Spanish and English here at Skins, El foro; but if you can't, please, tell me and I'll blog about it! The only thing that I can say about Ollie is that he's really cute and very smart, and he was so kind and friendly!

At the moment we're trying to contact the rest of the cast... I would like to interview Jack O'Connell; he plays Cook in the third season, a character adored by some and hated by others, but certainly not indifferent for the fans of the series.

The cast at FHM Magazine

Have you ever see "Skins"? Which one is your favourite character from the 1st and 2nd generation?

And before I leave, one thing more... the title of this post is a Jamie T's song; I adore his music and if you haven't listened to him, you should!

Enjoy your weekend :)! And again... thanks for being there!

PS: I forgot it, yesterday I was (again) the cover of Trendtation... here you can see the picture!

Friday's inspiration: Hannah Murray & Kaya Scodelario.

It's quite fun because as Laia posted yesterday about Lula Magazine, I was looking for this lovely photoshoot of Hannah Murray from Lula's March issue.

Isn't she lovely? I mean, I love Hannah Murray since I met her Cassie character at the UK Skins series; she was my favourite female character... and what a lovely style she had! Is very fresh and original, mixing colours, accessories ... is undoubtedly one of the things that makes Cassie a charming character: her style.

I think that why I fell in love with this character was the ease and accuracy with which the writers dealt with her problems, especially related to eating disorders. I've always been very interested in that area and was the first time I saw something as reliable.

From Skins' the second generation of girls, my favourite is Effy, I find her very human, full of layers that are gradually being discovered. Furthermore, Kaya Scodelario is a beautiful girl and I like her style very much.

Effy's style is more hard rock, but I think that the writers have created Effy's pose to hide all its shortcomings, which gradually we discover in the series.

Yesterday, Primark opened a store right next to my house. I was looking around, but there were so many people that I did not buy anything; I'll try to go quietly because I saw some socks that I liked very much!

And tonight I hope I could go to the cinema with my friends... it's been a hard week!

By the way, this is what I was wearing on Wednesday:

I've called it "Dandy of the Suburbs", hahaha!

T-shirt - Zara
Vest - Mango
Pants - Stradivarius
Socks - Putumayo
Boots - Mustang
Hat - claire's

Have a nice Friday!

A strange inspiration: Carnivale.

Yesterday I found my old vintage cage, full of great and old things; and I've been all the weekend seeing the TV Show "Carnivale", and I must say that I've enjoyed it very much.

The fact is that the serie show us a kind of vintage style that maybe it's less glamourous than what we're used too, but that I think it's quite interesting. You see, in the 30's, we used to imagine the vintage women that we're used to swee in cinema and old fashion magazines; but Carnivale shows us what I've called the "daily vintage" or something like that... if you look at the pictures, you'll know what I'm talking about.

I think that this is what I've most enjoyed about the series, the way they recreate the 30's style of the old USA's villages; it's so cool and realistic.

And searching more inspiration, I has a look to my beloved Vivian Leigh; I love this woman, she was so elegant...

And I found some other cool images for a total vintage inspiration look based on the 30's and 40's!

PD: Yes, I'm at work but as you can see, it's summer and I don't have much to do... so I'm very boring and I pass my time like this XD

I hope I could find a vintage shop at Budapest :D... I'm so sad that I couldn't buy anything in Lisbon, the shop I founded was real great :( but we were out of time... sigh!
