Looking for the Primary Colors (A trip to London, part II)

My second day in London City was a dream come true. Not only the night before I could attend a gig for which I was waiting a long time but also the weather was beautiful and I was hungry for art and culture. 

After having breakfast with Helena, I took the public transport again and made my way to The Wallace Collection, a personal matter pending between me and London for a long time now.

I'm a girl from Internet

Last Friday it was the opening party for Chicas Internet exhibition, where you can see some works from my beautiful friends Helena Exquis, Mia Álvarez, Helena Gorogoro, Josefina Andrés, Claire O'keefe, Monstruo Espaguetti and Mar Ordonez. Soon I'll talk about it, but I just wanted to show you a sneak peek of how it was and my outfit for that day, wearing this lovely Kling dress.

El pasado viernes fue la fiesta de inauguración de Chicas Internet, una exposición donde podéis ver el trabajo de algunas de mis preciosas amigas y más chicas creativas, como Helena Exquis, Mia Álvarez, Helena Gorogoro, Josefina Andrés, Claire O'keefe, Monstruo Espaguetti y Mar Odonez. Pronto os hablaré de todo ello, pero quería enseñaros un adelanto de lo que fue la expo y enseñaros mi look para ese día, con este vestido de Kling.

I know I'm a little bit off around here, but I've got good reasons: first of all, I'm having tons of works, and when I arrive home, sometimes I'm really tired... and sometimes I have to write for another place that, if you follow me on my Facebook page, you know about it. La Petite Morte by Amaia Arrazola

Last Friday I met Carol at Giuletta Café, a lovely place near our beloved Madame Chocolat where you can have a nice coffee or tea and eat cupcakes and other sweet (and not so sweet) things.

El viernes pasado quedé con Carol en Giuletta Café, un lugar precioso cerca de nuestra querida Madame Chocolat donde puedes tomar un delicioso café o té y comer cupcakes y otras delicias dulces y no tan dulces. 

After eating that delicious chocolate and red velvet cupcakes, I met Marta at Krizia Robustella's Store, where we had a look at a new exhibition: La Petite Morte, by the talented Amaia Arrazola.

Some of her pieces were really cool; my favourite ones where the heart-cake and the spider-lady. So amazing.

Tras comernos unos cupcakes de chocolate y red velvet, quedé con Marta en la tienda de Krizia Robustella, donde tenía lugar una nueva exposición: La Petite Morte, por la talentosa Amaia Arrazola. 

Algunas de las láminas eran geniales; mis favoritas fueron el corazón pastel y la mujer araña, fabulosas. 

The black dress I was wearing was before blue marine, from Topshop; but I decided to dye it black in the washing machine last time I did at home. It doesn't look bad, right?

El vestido negro que llevaba había sido con anterioridad azul marino, de Topshop; pero me decidí a teñirlo en la última lavadora de tintes que hice en casa. No ha quedado mal, ¿verdad?

My weekend has been a bit of a disaster, really. What seemed like something promising was gradually disrupting in one disaster after another, due to work. Fortunately, one of my plans finally came out properly on Sunday at noon: I had brunch with my flatmates.

Mi fin de semana ha sido un poco desastre, la verdad. Lo que pareció comenzar como algo prometedor se fue trastocando poco a poco en un desastre tras otro, debido al trabajo. Por fortuna, uno de mis planes salió correctamente el domingo al medio día: fui de brunch con mis compañeros de piso.

Sisters are sisters, no matters if they're from different parents.

Near the end of this year, and I must admit that a lot has happened over it. I have had encounters with very good friends of mine, such as my beloved Merkades of Dolls Stories.

Merkades and I started the pair within the Lolita world, and that is why I consider as a sister to me.

Se acerca el final de este año, y he de reconocer que han pasado muchas cosas a lo largo de él. He tenido reencuentros con muy buenos amigos míos, como por ejemplo mi queridísima Merkades, de Dolls Stories.

Merkades y yo comenzamos a la par dentro del mundo Lolita, y es por ello que la considero como una hermana para mí.

LiW ♥ Art (01/11 - 04/11)

Hoy me complace mucho anunciaros un proyecto que, finalmente, el jueves 1 de Noviembre verá la luz. Han sido unos meses de duro trabajo, pero al fin inauguramos LiW 'loves' Art; una exposición abanderada por la asociación Lolita in Wonderland con la cual se pretende dar a conocer el maravilloso arte relacionado con la cultura Lolita que se crea en nuestro país.

Artiscas como Pinkarol, Mia de MIlazzo, Rocío Ponce, Ania Ortiz de Lejarazu, Pekis, etc; deleitarán nuestros ojos (y oídos, porque habrá poesía el día de la inauguración y acompañando algunas obras) del 1 al 4 de Noviembre en la Cafetería 'We Pudding' (c/ Pau Claris, 90). Además, el propio día 1 se celebrará una Tea Party con motivo del aniversario de Lolita in Wonderland, a partir de las 18'00h; posteriormente (a las 19'00h la exposición quedará oficialmente inaugurada. 

Si alguno de vosotros desea asistir a la Tea Party, ha de realizar una reserva escribiendo a lolitainwonderland@hotmail.com.

Por mi parte, estoy muy feliz de haber ayudado a llevar este barco a buen puerto. Como he dicho antes, ha sido mucho batallar para poder realizar esta pequeña muestra que pretende informar de parte del maravilloso arte inspirado en el Lolita que se realiza en nuestro país.

No habéis leído mal en el cartel; mi nombre también aparece. Yo no me considero ningún tipo de 'artista', pero de tanto en tanto me dejo embelesar por el suave aroma de las hojas de otoño y escribo, escribo y escribo hasta que el papel es capaz de expresar por sí sólo lo que quiero decir. Así pues, leeré uno de estos textos, escrito especialmente para la ocasión.

Espero que os animéis todos a venir, aunque sea un ratito :)

I've done it before and I'll do it again.

Hey there! It's been a crazy and busy week, but here I come back again with my adventures ;)!

It's not a secret that I love the band from Newcastle's Maxïmo Park. Last Saturday the band played in Razzmatazz and of course, Carol and I went with Esther to see them as it should be: from the front row!

Hola a todos! He tenido una semana un poco de locura, pero aquí vuelvo a la carga con mis aventuras :)

No es ningún secreto el que me encanta la banda de procedente de Newcastles Maxïmo Park. El sábado pasado el grupo tocó en Razzmatazz y por supuesto, me fui con Carol y Ester a verlos como debe de ser: desde primera fila!

I am aMaxïmo Park lover since in 2005 I heard (cannot remember where) their track 'The Coast is always changing'. Later came the endless 'Apply Some Pressure' and my heart was beating so fast I knew then that this was the inevitable beginning of a musical love story. I love their lyrics, the power of their music and the power of the live band. When I listen to them, I cannot stop dancing, jumping, screaming and singing their songs ... is a real adrenaline rush!

Soy una enamorada de la música de Maxïmo Park desde que en el años 2005 escuché (no recuerdo dónde) su tema 'The Coast is always changing'. Más tarde vino el inagotable 'Apply some pressure' y mi corazón palpitaba tan rápido que supe entonces que aquello era el inevitable inicio de una historia de amor musical. Me encantan sus letras, la fuerza de su música y la potencia de la banda en directo. Cuando los escucho soy incapaz de dejar de bailar, saltar, gritar y cantar sus canciones... es un auténtico subidón de adrenalina!

While Razz concert was not the best of the band (the sound, as usual, was a real mess, as we know that the subject of sound at Razzmatazz is awful; and the public left much to be desired since many turned to throw ice onto the stage and one bounced and gave me in my hand ... where were the security officers?); I thoroughly enjoyed, and I had the great fortune to meet Duncan Lloyd, his guitarist. It was a pleasure to talk with him a bit, and I could tell him in person how much I liked his solo album, Seeing Double. I would have loved to talk to the rest of the band (I'm a big fan of Lukas Wooler, keyboard player, and I would also love to tell Paul Smith how much I like his voice and his solo album), but I will say that I was more than happy!

Si bien el concierto de Razz no ha sido de los mejores de la banda (el sonido, para variar, era una auténtica porquería; ya sabemos cómo es el tema del sonido en la sala Razzmatazz; y el público dejaba mucho que desear, ya que muchos se dedicaron a tirar hielos al escenario y uno rebotó y me dió a mí en la mano... ¿dónde estaban los encargados de seguridad?) yo disfruté muchísimo, y tuve la enorme suerte de poder conocer a Duncan Lloyd, su guitarrista. Fue un placer hablar un poco con él, ya que pude decirle en persona lo mucho que me gustó su disco en solitario, Seeing Double. Me hubiera encantado hablar con el resto de la banda (soy muy fan de Lukas Wooler, el teclista; y me hubiera encantando también poder decirle a Paul Smith lo mucho que me gusta su voz y su disco en solitario); pero he de decir que me fui más que contenta!

The next day I was with Laia and Ivan seeing a small but interesting exhibition of Andy Warhol in La Virreina, which will be throughout this month and during the Wednesday make lectures and panel discussions.

Al día siguiente estuve con Laia e Iván viendo una pequeña pero interesante exposición de Andy Warhol en La Virreina; la cual estará durante todo este mes y durante los miércoles hacen charlas y mesas redondas.
