The views from 't Veld

Life in 't Veld is really quiet, and the views are amazing no matter where you look. The grass is green and with this weather I feel like walking every day a little bit just to breath and sneak around the village.

Sometimes it rains and it's windy, but with my red raincoat I feel prepared and it's not a problem to walk around.

Maybe is not the place where I would like to stay forever, but for a little while, it's more than ok!

At Kaasmuseum and Orgelstad's Church in Alkmaar.

Last Tuesday we visited Alkmaar again for finishing the paperwork and visiting the Kaasmuseum (Cheese Museum), as we couldn't go before due to all the tourist that were there because of the Kaasmarkt.

The Kaasmuseum is located at Waagplein, and it's a wonderful old building in the middle of the square. Inside, you can discover the process of making cheese, its history, how it became so big in Holland or which type of machines they've been using for it.

The city of Alkmaar is very beautiful. It has a couple of churches really astounding and lots of windmills. At Alkmaar Orgelstad's church, they have an amazing organ from 1646 that still sounds great nowadays. You can find more information about it here.

Btw, I bought this skirt a couple of months ago, with a print of Van Gogh's Starry Night (one of my favourite paintings from all times). It's great for this weather! I think I will try it with a petticoat under it, so it will be more puffy and ladylike :)

Kling dress and Oh Carol x Madame Chocolat tights

I found these photos lost on my computer, wearing this beautiful Kling dress and super funny tights designed by my beloved Oh Carol for Madame Chocolat.

The style is perfect for spring/autumn in Spain, but perfect for the dutch weather right now, so I will be wearing this in Holland very soon!

Hipsterloli (International Summer Loliday)

One of the last times I was wearing Lolita clothes was in Barcelona, before leaving to the south and then to Holland (and before cutting my bangs!!). It was the International Summer Loliday and I wanted to joke with the image of the "Hipsterloli" that you can see in this video by Deerstalker.

I find very funny joking about this because sometimes I know I can sound a little bit like the Hipsterloli, as I've been wearing Lolita clothes for about 15 years now. Of course, I don't know everything or consider myself better than anyone because of that, it's that sometimes I feel nostalgic and I talk about the past sounding like a granny.

Anyway, I can't wait until meeting the Netherlands Lolita Community and know about their experiences!

Welcome to Holland!

Hello from Holland!

We arrived one week ago and since today we've been a little bit busy arranging some paperwork and hanging around 't Veld (where Thijs' parents live) and Alkmaar (one of the cities we're checking for a house!).
As an expat in Holland, you must get your sofi number as soon as you can, so you can open a bank account, get a doctor and some other important (but simple) daily things. You must arrange an appointment with the City Hall and register there, and within one or two weeks, they will send you a letter with the provisional one to your place.
Also I had to fix the U2, wich makes possible for you to collect your unemployment payment for three months here in Holland. For that, you must arrange first an appointment in your local employment office 5 days before leaving the country (at least in Spain), and the arrange another one with the local UWV offices in Holland, so they will inform your country that you're here.

As you can see for my outfits, summer is more fresh here in Holland, and I'm so happy about it!! From time to time it rains and it can be a little bit windy, but for the rest it feels so good to wear a jacket and some thin tights from time to time.

Last friday we went to Alkmaar to arrange some of this paperwork, and we visited the Kaasmarkt (Cheese Market) and Biermuseum (Beer museum), both of them really cool! The city was crowded with so many curious people for the Kaasmarkt, as is a special event that only happens during 3 moths per year.

So this is the beginning of my new adventures in Holland! I hope you'll join me into this new phase of my life :)

Losing time because of the summer

Maybe not officially, but summer has arrived in Barcelona and one year more, the hot weather is killing me. Also, I'm a little bit off from blogging because my computer is not working properly and I must fix it; and also we're going to Algeciras to visit my family next week and I cannot think about another thing right now.

Also, the final countdown has started: by the end of July our intention is to leave Barcelona, moving to the south for a couple of weeks and then... Moving to Holland! I'm so excited about this new adventure, but also I'm packing and sending to my boyfriend's place there some boxes with winter clothes, as September would be wet and a little bit cold there. SEPTEMBER. COLD, Cannot believe it.

Of course, I'm gonna miss Barcelona and Spain, especially the lovely people around here... But everyone should follow their dreams, and mines are living abroad and try to find sense in my life there. Seriously happy about this.

Any tips for the way there? I'm hearing!
