Nice places around Alkmaar: Sweets & Antiques

Hey there, stranger.

If there's something I miss from the "outside" world, is having coffee, some sweets and a nice chat with a friend somewhere nice. Here in Alkmaar the perfect place for that, at least for me, is Sweets & Antiques and believe me, I miss it quite a lot!

In the old town of Alkmaar, you will find the candy store of Han and Esther, a lovely little place full of curiosities and nice food that will delight those with a sweet tooth. When you enter inside, you can see yourself in an old Dutch candy store from the early XX century, surrounded by more than 200 different types of candy contained in old glass jars and vintage cans.

A quite Monday

 Hey there, stranger.

Yesterday was a nice and relax Monday for me, and I wish all Mondays could be like this. We woke up around half-past eight, had coffee, bacon and eggs on the bed and chill for a while before we started tidying up the house and running a couple of laundries. While Thijs went to the supermarket, I finished organizing the house and then we went for a little walk under the rain and a nice coffee.

Nice places around Alkmaar: Soepp

Hey there, stranger.

You know when you pass by a place you've been wanting to visit so badly but you never got to enter? Well, that was me with this little lovely place where I live until last week! Since my friend Marta was visiting us for a week, I made a little tour around Alkmaar with her, and when we passed by Soepp, we decided that we should have lunch there that day.

A short visit to my favourite place in The Netherlands: Teylers Museum

Hey there, stranger.

What have you been doing this week?

Mine was pretty busy, but I'm trying to come with a plan to make this work. I hope I can keep it up because now that I'm kind of back, I wouldn't like to leave this again.

I was lucky enough last Saturday to spend the day with my lovely friend Liv in Haarlem. We've been wanting to meet up for a while, and Destiny was kind to us, so we could arrange a date pretty soon.

Haarlem is a city very close to Amsterdam, and I'm totally in love with it. It has my favourite museum in the entire Netherlands, a place that, maybe it's not too big, but is full of charm. I fell in love with it since the first time I was there, and believe me when I say that I have thousands of photos of this place and that this is not the first time I will be talking about it.

#Lolita Tea Party at Howgarts

A couple of weeks ago we celebrate in Barcelona an amazing Lolita event inspired by victorian mermaids... But the day after, we had a gorgeous tea party at the new Pudding Coffee Shop, totally inspired in one of the most magical places ever: Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!!

Girls from all around Spain came that weekend to have a fun time with the local girls. I must say that not only the company but also the food and the place were more than great!

As you can see, the place is a new must around Barcelona. You can find it near the Francesc Macià Square; is not in the city centre but it's worth it. During the event, we played some games, caught up between the girls and had lots of fun.

The old town of Girona

During the last bank holiday, we visited Girona, a wonderful city to spend the day. The weather was really nice and we could visit all the old town of the city, one of the locations for this new season at the tv show Game of Thrones.

Before walking through the old town we had lunch at this amazing creperie called Bretonne. Their crepes were amazing! There are some of them around Spain, but it was our first time there and we really loved it.

The Cathedral of Saint Mary of Girona is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Girona. Its interior includes the widest Gothic nave in the world. Its construction was started in the 11th century in Romanesque style and later continued in the 13th century in Gothic style. Finally, the bell tower was completed in the 18th century.

We walked through the old town for the rest of the evening, crossing the two main bridges around the river and discovering the main street with my name on it... We'll be back!!

¡Volveremos seguro!
