Nice places around Alkmaar: Sweets & Antiques

Hey there, stranger.

If there's something I miss from the "outside" world, is having coffee, some sweets and a nice chat with a friend somewhere nice. Here in Alkmaar the perfect place for that, at least for me, is Sweets & Antiques and believe me, I miss it quite a lot!

In the old town of Alkmaar, you will find the candy store of Han and Esther, a lovely little place full of curiosities and nice food that will delight those with a sweet tooth. When you enter inside, you can see yourself in an old Dutch candy store from the early XX century, surrounded by more than 200 different types of candy contained in old glass jars and vintage cans.

With every step you take in the store you go further back in time, until 1700, the year in which the building was built. It's like a museum where you can eat the tastiest apple pie in Alkmaar, or have some delicious poffertjes and waffles. All the decoration is basically recycled, as they collected it from all over the Netherlands, Belgium or France.

Of course, all these foodporn photography is from the several times we've been there! This is one of our favourite places for Jill and me, and we've discussed several times that we would love to have a small tea party here with the Dutch Lolita Community. They open on Fridays and Saturdays, and Esther has been always there to greet us and compliment our outfits! She herself is also a colourful person, always wearing nice colour around the place. 

Last time we were there I was wearing this beautiful dress by Emily Temple Cute with old toys, that I think it matches the theme of the place really nicely. I can't wait for them to be open again in their normal schedule so we can enjoy their delicious desserts!
